Am I entitled to any benefits

When I go on maternity leave I get 90% of my wage for 6 weeks. Then it’s statutory sick pay for 9months. I am married and my husband works full time. Can I claim universal credit or family tax credit?

You can claim child benefit in case you aren’t already aware. Whether you are entitled to universal credit depends on your husbands wage which will be taken into account. You can always check using an online calculator: https://www.entitledto.co.uk

There’s a maternity allowance thing on the government website not sure what it is though

You will be able to claim child benefit which is around £110 a month

@Jess hi Jess, thank you for this information I have done this calculation and we’re only entitled to child benefit x

@Bex thank you I will have a look

Do you mean statutory maternity pay for 9 months? You can do a benefits calculator and see if you're entitled to anything else. You can't claim maternity allowance and statutory maternity pay, it's one or the other

Remember the 90% at the start is also SMP. It's literally the legal minimum - they're not giving you anything extra. Whether you get benefits or not is dependent on your household income so your husbands income would be counted.
