Potty training!

I started potty training yesterday and I thought it went so well! He used it every time with no accidents and it had me thinking how easy, he's cracked it on the first day! But today complete refusal to use it! Got him to use it once but only because I put him on it when I saw wee starting to drop. He even went to hide and have a wee and just had a poo in the middle of the room!! Anyone else in the same boat or got any suggestions? Trying to not react negatively to the accidents but the poo had me crying as the potty was nearby he just didn't want to use it!

I think it might be a little early in all honesty. I’m not sure starting before 2 is advised and usually boys take longer xxx

I wasn't going to start till around Christmas time but his nursery encourage them to use the potty there so thought I'd give it a go! He's been showing all the signs of wanting to anyway so started it. Just think I put too much pressure on it today after success yesterday. Going to try a chiller vibe and not push it but he will know it's there to use! Xxx

It might be that he’s not really ready yet because it’s still quite young to start potty training. Maybe have a break then try again and if it goes the same way try closer to 2? X

It’s a new thing for him, I would just continue, he will have good days and bad days but persevere. Guidance has changed on potty training and it’s advised to start as early as possible now.

We brought a book for my daughter about using the potty. The key thing is accept that it won't always go to plan! Even after a successful potty train my daughter still had a few accidents as she was too locked into whatever fun activity she was doing and would forget to go. Try to stay positive and keep praising him. You will get there. My daughter did really well for a few days then went backwards a bit. Then cracked it.

My son is 18m old and has started showing interest in the potty and will sit on it whilst we read a potty training story or listen to a potty training song. To help I would advise getting a couple of potties 1 for the toilet & 1 for leaving it in his play area or a corner of the room so they can see that it's there but again from 9 years of nursery experience they may show interest and then not be interested at all and if that's the case I'd take a break and reintroduce it to them in a few weeks time. Do not force them otherwise it could reverse & make it even harder. Hope this helps 🥰.
