Advice when not asked

How do you feel when this happens? I know that a lot of the unsolicited advice I receive comes from a good place, but it’s often from people who had children over 16 years ago and no way am I saying they are wrong but some advice is given without me asking and without them truly looking into it What many don’t see is the research, the reputable sources, and the thoughtful consideration that goes into every decision we make. And let’s be real—sometimes, when people search for something, they’re just looking for confirmation bias. Every baby is unique, and I truly believe that her dad and I know what’s best for her. What are your thoughts? 🤔

I can’t stand unsolicited advice, especially when it is outdated. I usually rebutt it with stating that the latest research states such and such and they quickly shut up. Or I say “oh that’s interesting, guidelines NOW state…”.

I hate it! My mum doesn't give advice, but for every decision that we make, she always says, "we didn't have that when my kids were babies" she's 50, her youngest is 16, there wasn't even smartphones. I track everything on Huckleberry, and she hates it. She always says I should just do everything in demand, which I do, but I track so that I can answer doctors' questions easily and know to keep naps on track.

This can get very annoying. Especially when it's compared to old ways. My mom means well but she compares things to when me and my brother were babies, I'm 32 and he's 29 this year. Like transition to the cot when I'm ready. She said with me to transition she placed my moses basket in the cot because I knew my moses basket so she did this so I'd get used to the bars before she actually puts me in the crib. 1 i don't have a moses basket just 2 cribs (a next to me 1 and a rocking 1) and 2 this isn't safe. She says 'well it was fine when you were a baby and you're fine' I get that answer with a few things. So I say well a lot of things were fine back then that aren't now, safety laws have changed a lot in 32 years. There used to be car seats that looked like a child swing, that was considered safe it certainly isn't now.
