I struggled with this until I just put a potty in the same room with my kid. I had wanted to avoid this but it’s the only thing that worked for me. Follow them around with the potty and lose the diapers

@Josie how long it took them to get fully on board?

Like two days. She still struggles with pooping on the potty but now the potty stays in the bathroom and she will leave her playing to go and pee. We’ve had two accidents that seemed to be connected to watching tv so I have to prompt her when she’s into a show, but that’s about it. She can hold it for a pretty long time too. We’re at the point where we go to the grocery and walks without a diaper

Thank you

We followed the Tiny Potty Training Book by Andrea Olson (the 18month+ one) I’d recommend it to anyone! We used her method on our daughter and it worked so fast. So much information in there and I really appreciated it taking the guesswork out! We skipped the the nighttime training portion. I read that the ADH hormone is responsible for us producing less urine when we are sleeping. The ADH hormone develops at different rates for everyone, so I didn’t want to stress it. Thats just what I read, I’m no doctor so I have no clinical knowledge about it, but about 4 months after she was fully day trained she started waking up dry every time with no “overnight training”.

Have a little potty around for exposure and let your little one explore to become more comfortable with it. My son would sit on his with diaper and pants on while I would potty and it has helped tremendously. He's not scared of the potty, and he's even comfortable with the big potty, and he's not afraid to poop. We've tried to keep the potty talk light and fun, and he gets so excited when he pees :)
