Corporate mat leave policy

The firm I work for have changed the mat policy so previously when you returned to work you would have to stay with the firm for 6 months or else pay back the EMP. Now if you leave after 6-7 months you would have to pay back 50%, 8-9 months would be 30% etc. For anyone working in corporate have you had similar policies?

Not for maternity pay but we brought this in for development fees for example if they pay for you to do a qualification, its on a sliding scale. Never heard of this for EMP though and my team (HR) would def not be in favour of it! Did the policy change whilst you were already on leave? Did you sign anything such as a maternity agreement before you went off?

The company I work for is the same, leave within 6m and pay back all your CMP... its one of the only reasons I'm going back there!! X

Not sure that they can change it while you’re already off under the old policy x

I agree with Jessica if you are already off they surely can’t change the terms of your return. Are you wanting to leave after the 6 months?

Thanks all - similar to @Keira it was one of the only reasons I was going back and I told myself I would find something new after - 6 months is ok but a year is just a lot. They’ve changed the policy company wide, i’ve not been asked to sign anything different, the joys of the corporate world!

When did it change though? If it was while you were already off, it wouldnt (shouldnt) apply to you!

@CeeCee it changed in March while I was already on mat leave! I’m not sure they will agree that the new policy doesn’t apply knowing them
