Has anyone else still not been able to find a dentist for little one?

I’m extremely worried that I can’t find my little one a dentist. I’ve been searching for 12 months now but none of the dentists in my area are taking new patients. The closest dentist with availability is an hour away and I don’t have transport so can’t travel. Anyone else?

I’ve not got my daughter an NHS dentist. No one is taking new patients. Tbh she just came along to my check up (albeit a private dentist as I can’t even get a dentist 🙄) and the dentist had a Quick Look and gave us the okay.

@Sarah neither myself or my boyfriend have a dentist because our dentist decided to kick everyone of the books during Covid and we cannot get a private dentist so have no hope with a NHS one for little one

My little boy has only recently been registered last week and he’s been waiting since a few weeks old 😬 there is a massive problem with it all at the moment! I would ring any dentists that are local to you and ask to be put on their waiting list if you haven’t done so already, unless you have any concerns though I wouldn’t be too worried it was literally a quick check, they wrote down how many teeth he had and then said they’d make another appointment in 6 months x

@Kaitlyn thank you. There’s 3 dentists in our area and 2 have gone completely private and don’t have waiting lists we just have to keep ringing hoping for a space and the 3rd are refuse to put little one on the waiting list because one of the nhs dentists left so they’ve closed the waiting list with whoever’s already on it. I’ve asked on my local Facebook page and there are people travelling 2 hours for a 5 minute appointment because of how poor it is around here. I just don’t understand what we’re supposed to do and when I ring the dentists they say we have to go further a field but I can’t. It’s really frustrating because I know someone that lives an hour away where there is dentists spaces but he choices to be with a dentists here so he can get time of work to go. Makes you wonder how many people are doing the same thing and taking away from the people that live here.

Have you called round all the dentist to check? As many take children under 16 but won't take adults. I did this aaa wa struggling to get my boy registered and was going to take him private, its lile 30 pounds for a check up which is all they need at this age x

@Sarah I have but neither the private or nhs dentists will take any new patients not even a toddler unfortunately

My eldest went just after she turned 3 and she has perfect teeth, so I wouldn't stress just yet xx

Oh wow, you'd think they would take private. As long as you brush little ones teeth then all will be fine ☺️

I’m not going to lie I didn’t even realise this was something I needed todo just yet 😂? X
