The GDUK website is really good (better advice than the nhs stuff I think). I found out i have it 4 weeks ago and was so upset, you are not alone :)

I had it when I was pregnant. I found out when I was 6 months. My little girl is 5 months now. Tbh there isn’t much you can do to control it, that was my experience. I did everything right and still ended up on insulin. Don’t stress too much because I did and everything was fine!

Another vote for Gestational Diabetes UK website. I’ve found it really helpful I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago at 36w and it came as a total shock. For me it’s all managed by diet but for some people that’s not possible no matter how hard you try, and there are medications they can prescribe to help. It’s rubbish but it’s nothing you’ve done, it’s just a hormone thing

My sister had it with all 3 of hers, only needed insulin for the last one as she couldn't have a slice of toast without her sugars spiking. 3 big babies but healthy.

Join the Gestational Diabetes UK Facebook group. I had my baby 2 week ago and had GD from week 17. The Facebook page was totally invaluable to me. Try not to stress, once you get your head around the diet (pairing foods mostly) it becomes much easier xx

I know it’s already been mentioned but definitely have a look at the gestational diabetes uk website. It has some GD friendly recipes and has a lot of great advice. My husband also found it really helpful and it contains simple rules you should follow. My biggest tip is cutting out/lessen carbs and make sure you’re pairing your food with natural fats/protein. I was diagnosed around 12 weeks ago and found the website so helpful. I cried when I first got diagnosed and was so upset and felt like it was my fault- even though it’s 100% not. The website is so good at explaining that it’s not our fault and it’s just due to hormonal changes. From here you can expect to be asked to monitor your blood sugar levels (4 times a day) to ensure they are in a safe range. You will also have extra growth scans for baby to check of their size. I know it seems very overwhelming at the moment but I promise you it gets easier to get your head around. Good luck lovely 💕🥰

I also got the dreaded call today 😩- not sure where to start to know what to Do, have a appointment next Tuesday, never had it with my first xx
