Midwife doesn’t “need” to see me

I am on red pathway due to an autoimmune condition. Currently 26 weeks and getting 4 weekly scans and obstetric appointments. My midwife cancelled my 24 week appt and has told me that she doesn’t really need to see me as I am seeing a doctor every 4 weeks. Is this normal? I feel like I still want to see the midwife as the type of support offered is different eg breastfeeding advice.

I think normal… I’m also on 4 weekly scans and 4 weekly consultant appointments due to autoimmune and haven’t seen my midwife much at all. I think the reason is because you’re having scans and seeing a doctor this is better than seeing a midwife - they don’t really do anything at the midwife appointments anyway. They just do heart beat (but you’re having scan) and urine test - which I think they should do at your doctors appointments? If you had any concerns I’m sure you could ask to see a midwife between your doctor appointments though!

I think you should still have a 28 week midwife appointment? They’ve left mine in even though I had a consultant appointment/ scan very close to this. Maybe ask if you don’t as you say you’ll want other advice - breastfeeding etc.

Not sure if it is normal or not as I have not been in your position. However, I have found with both pregnancies that I do not get much information from thw midwive. She tests my urine and not much more. So if you are being monitored in another way, you may not need the appointment.

I had a midwife (not my normal one she's on annual leave) say that I should have cancelled my appointment as the midwife appointment and consultant appointment where so close together but my midwife and checked all the appointments were right (some had not been booked early in others had been double booked) and she didn't say not to do that appointment as they needed to bloods anyway and I mentioned it at the hospital and they didn't say it wasn't needed.
