Contraception

What kind of contraception is everyone using? I had a baby 8wks ago and I’ve got two little ones now and I am definitely done with having babies. Which kind of contraception would you recommend… currently trying condoms but don’t want to rely too much on them incase any accidents happen lol. Has anybody had the injection in the arm and did you have any side effects?

I've heard loads of horror stories about the coil, however I've had 2 coils, both the hormonal one and never had any issues at all, just my personal experience. My husband is very anti ✂️ so looks like it's all on me 🤣

@Emma yes same I keep hearing very negative stories about the coil too however it suppose everybodys body is different! Thank you I’ll look into it xx

I've also had depot injection, however that made me really hungry and I gained a fair amount of weight with that, but again everyone is different. I would say consider all but choose what's right for you x

I’ve had abit of everything over the years and would recommend the copper coil. No hormones. As you say everyone is different but it’s so convenient I think it’s worth a try!

I work in a sexual health department and obviously hear lots of negative stories about the coil, never had one personally. I’m on the progesterone only pill, only started a few months ago but finding it to be good, helps control my heavy bleeding too. I would say if you’re unsure, book in to your local sexual health department, they’re usually easier to get an appt than with your GP and they’re very knowledgable about all things contraception x

The pill has always worked well for me! I’ve tried the implant it sent me a bit nuts and I bled constantly!

I was on a pill for a few years between the age of 19 and 28. Two hormonal ones were cancelled for me because of migraines. Single hormone one made me really hungry and I didn’t like not having periods, for some reason it messed up with me but I know some women love not having to deal with periods. I then had a copper coil for 6 years before taking it out when we started planning a pregnancy. I got another copper coil when my baby was 6 months old, and I’m very happy with it still. So I guess non-hormonal stuff works best for me
