PPD

Have started having severe signs of PPD. Am going in to my 6 weeks check up this week so I'm sure they'll let me know for sure but I'm nervous on what will happen. Has this happened to anyone? If you do have it what does the doctor suggest to help?

I’m in the same boat. I’m kinda scared to be honest because I don’t want to be sent to a hospital. There is a new medication called zurzuvae that is specifically used to treat women with ppd. It is a 14 day treatment course. I’m thinking about asking my psychiatrist for it however it isn’t known if it’s safe for kids. On the site it says that it passes into breast milk so if youre breastfeeding or pumping it may or may not cause some problems.

Unless you have thoughts of harming yourself or others they will just talk to you and discuss how can they help you or ask you what you think you need. They asked if I wanted a referral to a counselor and I said yes and they just checked in to with how I feel and how my support system at home is. Just be honest on the ppd scale they have you fill out.

I take Prozac and yes I feel you. Just ask for an antidepressant that fits you best. Takes a few weeks to work in your system but it's worth it

just had my 6 week appointment yesterday, they gave me a chart to fill out of how i have felt in the last week and how often and then they score it and will let you know. my obgyn talked to me about concealing and also getting onto medication, those were pretty much the only options but they can’t force you to do either. i opted for meds for now to see if that will help stabilize my anxiety because i got diagnosed with PPA and if that doesn’t help i’ll consider concealing

@Taylor sorry, but what is concealing?

Probably meant counseling not concealing

@Michaela yes sorry autocorrect counseling
