Nervous?

I get inducted tomorrow and I’m freaking out! Any tips on how to get through the process and pain. (No epidural)

Omg congrats!!!

One of my gfs said try using a birthing comb. You can probably overnight one to an Amazon locker near you or ask the hospital if they have one. I pray you have an easy labor/delivery and a healthy happy baby 💗

I salute you not using an epidural. 🫡

@Breanna thank you! I went the whole 9months fine. Everytime I was in pain I’d just try to walk it off

I’m planning to use combs, distraction, birth ball, and possibly IV meds. I’m hoping to get an induction scheduled after my appt Thursday.

I was told a comb won’t allow you to fully relax since you have to squeeze it and relaxing is what will help most, mental prep is best. Remember the pain itself cannot harm you, it’s just painful :) (as I’m hoping I can take my own advice in a few weeks..😅)

I thought when they induce you they automatically give u an epidural?

Try to relax with every contraction. Your body needs them to push the baby out. If you get tense, it will only hurt more. With inductions, the contractions are not as intense but more frequent. You will feel them constantly, so just find ways to relax until it's time to push your baby out.

@Charlotte I never heard of that. My doctor gave me a choice between getting it or not and I said no so instead they start you on medication through iv.

I had induction meds via IV drip twice because without it my contractions don’t progress. I just used gas and it helps so much with breathing through the contraction as well - breathing in and out of the tube. The peak of the contractions are the worst and they last for a solid 10-15 seconds. Breathing properly and trying to relax, which I could never do but try helps, is the best way to get past each wave / contraction. Pant-pant-blowwww or hee-hee-hooooo about 3 times at the peak pain is what I focus on. Pushing stage is also so quick without an epidural with minimum tearing. Also, just remember that going unmediated means you recover so much faster. I’m walking, peeing, pooping faster than the others (nurses tell me!) all the time in the hospital. And milk comes in too easily, well for me. Finally thinking of the baby coming into your arms is the best motivator. GLx
