Has anyone asked their ob to extend their SDI and been told no? I’m nervous about asking her at my next appt 😢

I asked in a subtle way and she didn’t think I need to extend it even though I have a mild form of PPD/A. I did tell her I’m taking bonding immediately afterwards so I think that might be why she didn’t wanna do it since I will still be on leave

They shouldn’t say not. If he/she does. Get your PCP to do it. Go with post partum anxiety/depression.

@Winnie 😳😳 sorry you had to use bonding time when you should have been able to extend SDI

I think if she did give me extension it would have only been 2 more weeks. I guess my symptoms are not worrisome to her. She said she discharged me from postpartum care already and next time I see her will be my annual vaginal exam

You need to tell them what’s wrong. Take control of the situation. They won’t just give it without a valid reason. Tell them you are anxious, irrationally worried, crying for no reason etc.

@Bria yesss

If your doctor won’t do it find a doctor who will. That’s what I had to do because I was in no way mentally capable of returning to work and my health provider made it very difficult to request to be off work longer.

My OB said no, even though I delivered at 26 weeks and my baby was still in the NICU. She gave me an extra week and told me to get a therapist if I wanted more time (and have the thp write the letter). I couldn’t find a therapist fast enough so I had to go back to work.
