What pregnancy terms do you hate? 😂

So this is a bit of a rant but it's quite light-hearted as well. Baby is due in 6 weeks so we're obviously buying the last few bits and bobs and getting the house ready and this person I know was like, "Oh, you've proper started nesting". Erm no, I'm not a hen or some other bird, I'm just preparing for our baby to arrive and it's not something biological to me but just logical that you get ready for when your baby is here in the same way you start packing down your stuff when you're moving house or prepare for things in general 😂 The word is just so ick to me! Same as I can't stand when people say, "You've got this, mama!". Erm, I'm my baby's mum, not your mama 😅 What terms are there in pregnancy that you can't stand?

I’m not too bothered about pregnancy terms I just HATE that people think they can touch my belly all the time 🫠 it’s so uncomfortable

@Becca ugh, that has not happened to me but people know I'm generally not someone who likes being touched and that would freak me out as well!!

Hahahahahahha I love this rant! I don’t like the nesting one either- such an ick, but I don’t mind the mama bit 🤣🤣 I also don’t like when someone refers to my pregnancy as cooking (not that this has happened loads, just a few times now) - whilst I get the reference to bun in the oven, I’m not a literal oven, nothing is actually cooking…

we’ve had to strip, plaster, paint etc the room we intended to use as the nursery in the house we just bought and everyone keeps saying we’re nesting - no the room just wasn’t fit for purpose 😂

@Hana ugh, that would make feel sick 🤢😅 @Vickky can you not prepare for your baby to arrive without being referred to as a bird or a hen? 🤣 It's certainly no instinct or anything I'm enjoying, it's just to make life easier for when baby arrives!

Yes having my bump touched without asking I could murder with sight 👀🙈🙈😂 Phrases I hate are "Sleep while you can" "You will never have time anymore" "Your marriage will change" "Everything will change" Please just shut up and walk away 🙌🏼🙌🏼😑😑😑😑😑

A few months ago I was sorting out a cupboard in the kitchen which was A MESS and had been bothering me for a while. My MIL "ohh you're nesting!" Do you really think I would've left it a mess forever if I wasn't pregnant? 🙈

@Gabi arghhhh “sleep while you can” I can barely sleep now with this huge bump in the way and the constant need to run to the loo, I don’t need to be reminded I won’t be able to sleep once the baby is here too thank you very much!!

Random ladies running up to me EXTATIC to touch my belly and ask me questions about when I'm due and what I'm having etc... People touching my belly without even saying hi to me first. Saying to someone 'im tired' and them replying with 'you better get used to it!' Or 'oh you just wait until the baby is here!' (they're typically male)... I'm like, dude you've never felt the exhaustion of growing a baby... I could go on 😅

Anything in relation to “bouncing back” makes me furious. I work with all men so the only comments they make about my pregnancy are the changes to my body. It makes me FURIOUS when people make pregnancy about how you look, and not the fact YOURE GROWING A HUMAN

@Julia it's always men who say "wait till the baby is here" when I say that I'm tired!!

@Chloe ugh, that's just disgusting! Bouncing back is a disgusting term as well!

@Hana Amen 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I barely sleep ever since pregnant and it's only getting worse, so if I have baby waking up for feeds but sleep deep inbetween I take that! 😃

The nesting thing irritates the shit out of me!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes. I’m with you. I love this thread.

Oh another one!! ‘You NEEEEED this product’ no no I don’t need it, stop making me feel like I need to spend £400 on a baby carrier just because you enjoy it 😂😂😂 that maybe just me but the whole pressure to buy certain things drives me mad 😂

The “just you wait” or “well you won’t be doing that” whenever we talk about anything to do with sleep, food, socialising, having a life of our own…as if we don’t know what we’re getting ourselves in for!

@Rachel yuck, hate that as well!!

Ohh I forgot to add "You won't leave the house and have no social life" We don't leave the house now and have no social life 🙌🏼🤣🤣 We both always so busy with work and none of us WFH so we cannot wait to actually have an excuse to stay in and be in our bubble! 😃

Lol i hate when ppl call themselves boy or girl mums 😭like i get its descriptive but its such an annoying title

@Tahirah definitely with you on that one 🤣

We started a loft conversion a few months ago, and ever since, my mum keeps referring to it as nesting! 🤦🏼‍♀️ No mother, this was necessary building work to provide enough living space for a new child, and it is rather important that it gets decorated too! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Also, any comments about my weight.... just not OK! Someone said "you're looking chunky", and I asked "what, just my bump, or all over?" She said "all over" 😳😳 I was only about 16 weeks at that point, and only just showing!! Next time I saw her, she made another comment about "well let's see how fast you lose the weight afterwards" 🙄 Men tend to jokingly call me "fatty". 🤦🏼‍♀️ I'm not sure what makes anyone think that it's OK to refer to someone's weight...ever!

Omg I hate when I say I’m tired and someone who is not pregnant says ‘ me and you both’ 🤯 no. Just no.

@Becci my colleagues at work genuinely call me fatty or piggy at every opportunity they can get, I know I haven’t really gained any weight because the scales haven’t changed much and everyone else says I don’t look much different! But it still gets to me 🥲🥲

It's not a pregnancy term but once you've got more than one child it's forever "ooh you've got your hands full" 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 I have 3 children and pregnant again and it's all I hear now when I go out!

Also, my MIL likes to drop in a "why are you buying bottles/formula? You're going to booby feed" at least once every time she comes over. She's deeply offended that I've chosen to formula feed all of my children
