First baby we kept it a secret from everyone, this time round we’ve told friends as they have baby due soon and we wanted to make sure we hadn’t picked the same name 😂 but not telling family incase they try out us off the name
@Sophie yeah I remember one of my mates picked her girl name and her whole family had like a bad story to tell with someone with that name
@Meg yeah I’ve sat on my girl name since I was 15 🫣 and have never heard of anyone else having it or picking it!
We didn’t tell anyone either our sons names it was the one thing we could keep to ourselves until the end 🩵 xx
We kept all the names we liked a secret and even when we decided her name we didn’t tell anyone we were set on one. We just wanted this one thing to be just between us 2.
You’re well within your rights to keep your baby’s name a secret! We always thought we would but once we had chosen a name it felt so right and it just became her name so we told people but that’s just us! Can see why you’d keep it secret x
We told everyone the name when I was 7 months pregnant and discussed baby names with family beforehand. I wish we hadn’t told them and kept it a secret from them. When we were telling family names in our top 3 they kept coming up with nicknames to put us off the name which I didn’t like
@Katie yeah I’m going to be very clear I don’t want any nicknames, only if me and my partner start it.
@Katie yeah I kind of wish I’d kept my boy name a secret as my MIL keeps trying to put me off it because she thinks it’s old fashioned and hates it. But tbh that just makes me more determined to have it 😂 I know it’s petty, but I’m here for it!
@Natalie I’d probably be the same tbh. At the end of the day if they don’t like the name it doesn’t matter as it isn’t their child
@Katie Exactly! Boundaries are very important to put in place very early on. You have the right to have an opinion on my child’s name, but I also have the right to blatantly ignore you and do what I like 😂
i still usually only call my kids their nicknames bc i don’t want ppl to take their names 😭
We can’t tell anybody cos we can’t decide ourselves 🤣
I didnt tell anyone but i knew what i was having even before i foumd out so i never had a girl name! So everyone just found out when he arrived. Just family.

I'm not pregnant but told my mum the name I would like for my second if its a girl (I want a theme!) she hates the name, part of me wishes I hadn't said anything but the other thinks she'll get over it when/ if baby arrives 😅🤣
@Rachel I do have a name picked out but going to also see what baby looks like
@Mercedes I wish we could do that but we need a name for English and Turkish so she just had to have what we choose 😅 it was already too difficult to think of one name and having a boy is out of the question because there's none we can agree on 😅 xx
Me, my little girls name. It’s so uncommon but so pretty I absolutely hate sharing it and hunt name pages / suggestions to see if it’s on there because I just want to keep it for myself (selfish and childish I know😂) but I wish I could ™️ her name although there were kids before her and will be after her with the same name😂🤦🏻♀️ I just hope it doesn’t get popular🥺
We didn’t tell anyone the names in advance either. We thought it made for a better surprise when baby was born and also it prevented anyone trying to put us off the names or give us any negative associations with them
