Home birth team not called

Hiya! I’m a bit confused and wanted to ask if that’s normal. So, I was supposed to have a home birth visit today and they say they call to confirm at 8.30. That has been and gone and no one called to say if they’re coming and what time. I had my first appointment with them and they did exactly that (called at 8.30 and then came later) today my partner is working from home to try and talk to them as well. Is it normal for them to call later or just call another day? I’m very confused.

Hey! I’m having a home appointment today and also haven’t heard yet. Usually I’ve heard by about 9. I wonder if they’re just really busy this morning! If you’re worried maybe you could try calling midwives at the hospital, or reaching out to the midwife who came for your last appointment? Just to see if they can update or help you x

Oh that’s unfortunate!! The midwife I saw today had been out to east grinstead in the morning, so I think they’re maybe manically busy. Perhaps pop a text or call over to the midwife who contacted you to ask for an ETA🥺

Can I ask when you guys were referred/handed over to home birth team? I’ve been told 36 weeks but that feels so late, thought I was supposed to get appointments at home but they’ll be basically all done by then!

@Sam hey! Yeah I was referred at 35 weeks I believe. I had a home birth assessment at 36 weeks, and then a few appointments since then. Today was my fourth appointment in total at home

@Chloe ah okay thank you! My midwife doesn’t seem that clued up on it so didn’t want to miss the boat 😅 Are you glad you’ve gone for it?

@Sam I was referred at my 34w appointment and they called to come the next Friday for a home birth assessment and today would be my first appointment. They do come to yours and have the appointments until you give birth x

@Sam oh no! Sorry to hear that lovely. But yeah, home birth wise it sounds similar to my journey with being referred. Omg yes I am soooo glad. It feels like such a luxury after going to the midwifery hub all the time. I lovedddd my midwife at the midwifery hub, and I do miss seeing her. But home visits suit me a lot better at these later stages

@Chloe I’ve sent her a text. I think it’s likely they’ve been very busy! The team seems very small for the area they have to cover!
