Are they being petty or what?!

So my LO has had an on and off fever since Friday. I told my husband if it didn’t go away by the time I picked up my soon from school I would call the pediatrician for a sick visit. I called (12:47pm) them told them the situation and asked if they had anything available for today. The lady I spoke with said the only appointment available was at 4:45pm. I repeated the time for her and she confirmed I asked if they had anything earlier she said no so I said okay let’s do it. As I’m waiting for my son I decide I will take her to urgent care instead since I wanted her seen asap. With driving now having 2 kiddos in the car I did not have time to call the pediatrician right away but I figured it would be okay to call when I got home. Turns out she has an ear infection! By the time we get home I get a call from the pediatrician asking about the appointment I said yes I was just going to call you to cancel and explained what happened. The lady is kinda rude and says there will be a $30 fee and I said okay. If there anyway that we can wave the fee because the appointment isn’t for another hour and 45minutes. She’s says no your appointment was at 2:45pm. I’m shocked cuz that’s not what I spoke about with the lady who booked the appointment. So I asked for her cancellation policy she tells me is 24hrs. I don’t get how that applies if I made the appointment a few hours before. Basically I’m just pissed at how inconsiderate they sound. My baby is sick and I needed her seen asap but they want to charge us for not making it in at a time that I wasn’t even aware of. Also I didn’t get any text or email with a confirmation of the appointment at all. I wish that I had because if it’s true (and it could be because I’m pretty stressed and have a lot on my plate) I would have made sure to call right away to cancel. We just moved here and we have already accommodated them in the past switching our appointment time to help them see kids for back to school. What would you do in this situation? Should I be petty and dispute the charge?

I know it’s only $30 but I would fight it. Maybe you can speak to a manager or something. You confirmed the time with her on the phone and was going to call and cancel. $30 is a week’s worth of fruits for my son. This is an exception since you scheduled the day of so the policy does not apply to you.

@Anabelis thats exactly how I feel like okay it’s only $30 but it was obviously due to miscommunication. If I were doing it on purpose I would have never answered their call or bothered speaking with them at all. I had my husband call and they said their manager was out for the day. Apparently they don’t know when she will be in at all lol definitely gonna dispute it just doesn’t seem fair. Thank you for taking the time to answer 🩷

I would fight it,. She gave or wrote down the wrong time. That’s sounds like an office problem
