Potty training (sorry)

Hey, sorry I know there are so many potty training posts. We have just started this week to potty train and I'm getting a bit concerned really. My little girl in some ways seems ready but not others. The biggest issue is I don't think she really understands when she is weeing/about to wee. Guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips? Bit concerned with school being in one year and she still doesn't seem to be ready 😕 thanks for any advice from a worried ftm

So when I started potty training my son (he was 2.5 at the time) for first few days I would take him every 30 mins literally, was exhausting but after a few days he started telling me himself that he needs to "pee pee toilet". Whenever I took him toilet and he peed I would clap and be all happy so it's positive reinforcement. Its totally normal to have accidents when you first start! But just be patient and very consistent and she'll soon start to see the pattern and catch on hopefully x

@Sarah thank you so much for your tips! Did you find even with taking him every 30 minutes to the toilet to start with you still had accidents in between? I have been trying to do similar but I think I just get a bit down as she doesn't seem to even notice an accident at the moment. Hopefully she will pick it up soon x

With us helped the warm weather, strip them from the waist down all day if you can and follow their cues i.e they hold their private part when they want to pee. Also take them in the bathroom every time you go and offer them to pee

Yes ofcourse, still accidents in between, I tried to monitor every time he drank and would take him 20 mins after that, sometimes he would drink his water or milk without me noticing and that's when most accidents happen. Like A mentioned, we also waited for warm weather, rolled up our rugs and left him half naked waist down. My mum stayed with me to help with chores and cooking as when potty training that had to come priority over everything else. Had to watch him like a hawk! Good luck, she'll get there eventually x

Thank you both very much, will do the same things and keep persevering 😊 x

I’ve tried a few times before to potty train but my little one but she hasn’t been ready. We started again last Monday. We just went cold turkey with nappies. Got rid. I was reminding/asking her every 30 mins if she needed a wee. We had a few accidents the first few days. We’re now on day 3 with no accidents and she’s taking herself to the potty or asking to go. She’s defo cracked it this time. I’ve downloaded an app called ‘potty whiz’ you can record when they go to the toilet. You can celebrate with them once they go too. We’ve got fireworks and a well done message when she goes. Plus stickers have helped too!
