Annual leave

I returned to work today, with 27 days AL. 2 of which are carried forward from last year. I have until April before my hols renew again, can I carry forward any spare again to 25-26? My company policy is usually a maximum of 5.

You would be best discussing with your manager, sometimes the waver due to a leave of absence, my company does allow to carry over additional annual leave as an exception

If your company policy is 5 then surely you can only carry over 5?

@N 💞 yeah, I just wondered if it’s different as I’ve been on Mat leave and they’re technically giving me 6 months to use all my leave. Which probably isn’t in their interest either!

@Lucy I’d imagine not, over 6 months is quite a long time to be able to use the holiday allowance

It really depends where you work. I work in public sector and 5 days is standard, 9 days with line manager approval and our head of area can approve more than that in exceptional circumstances (long term sick etc). I think maternity is exceptional so you would probably be allowed to carry some extra over so long as you’ve done your best to use what you have.
