Ovulation

I get really confused with ovulation and LH surge. I follow the flow app and log my tests which I test with the clear blue pink. So I had a positive on Friday and a positive yesterday but when I tested around 5pm yesterday it was negative. I’ve had on and off pains for the last two days plus still pains today. According to my app I am ovulating today but if I had a LH sure Friday and Saturday but then a negative saturday afternoon does that mean I have already ovulated and I have missed the window of opportunity? Or am I now in my fertile window at my peak? It always confuses me.

Firstly I would say ignore when flo says you’re ovulating. It’s just an estimate and isn’t accurate for most people. Stick to using the strips, I never logged mine as when mine were dark and clearly I was ovulating it would say I wasn’t. I fell pregnant faster but just doing the tests and evaluating them by eye. The tests that show the line rather than a “positive” or “negative”. When they looked dark I would BD for two days and fell pregnant after a month of this method. Best of luck 💕

Well I did the clear blue tests as in the digital so the smiley face comes up and the test lines were both dark on both tests, but I always get confused that if I tested yesterday and it was positive but then tested on the afternoon later and was then negative, does that mean I’ve missed the window of opportunity? Or could today still lead to something? Or because the tests went positive to then negative after a few hours have I missed my ovulation and now today that’s passed? My last two boys I used the Flo app and fell pregnant but never took any OPKs so I wasn’t testing then just used the Flo app so it definitely worked when I wasn’t using anything to test. Was planning on doing the deed tonight but think I’ve now missed the moment x

As I understand the surge in LH happens up to 24 hours before you ovulate and then the egg is viable for another 24 hours after that so you are potentially fertile for up to 48 hours after your first positive ovulation test. You are also fertile for a few days before ovulation because the swimmers can last up to 5 days inside you to be waiting for the egg when it arrives. I used the flow app to enter my positive tests just to see if there was a trend to my ovulation and it was typically around cycle day 12 so l knew my window started around day 7 up to 48 hours after our positive ovulation test. Usually give us a 1 week window every month except for the odd occasion I ovulated early so just try and do it a few times within your window each month

My husband works away so we only get like a few months a year when he’s home and when he’s home it’s hit and miss. Like my surge was Friday and yesterday but he travelled home yesterday so he had been awake for 48 hours so he was asleep very early last night hence why we didn’t do anything. So now I’m just thinking well if my test said negative 7 hours after my second positive then surly we have now missed the window so no point trying again till my next cycle comes around again, even though today I have pains, back ache and am bloated so I dunno x

I’ve always gone with my app my last two pregnancies and never tracked anything like OPKs and always went by their ovulation predictions and fell pregnant from that, my app says ovulation today and I do have cramps, bloated and back pain but if I had two positives and then a negative last night then that must mean I’ve ovulated and if we do the deed tonight it’s a very slim chance xx

I went by my temperature - it's far more accurate than tests. I did tests along side it but it was my temperature being slightly raised that was the giveaway. I used Natural Cycles and would recommend it (I'm irregular so I needed something that would help track and know when to try) xx

The lh surge is what tells your body to ovulate. After the highest or peak reading, you will release an egg within 24 hours, and then that egg survives for up to 24 hours. So the LH peak is not the time that you ovulate, it's a signal that you're about to, if that makes sense. So you're still in with a chance if you dtd today

So my main question is if I had a positive Friday, positive Saturday then 7 hours later a negative, this is with the clear blue pink digital tests. Would I have already ovulated by now and missed my chance, or, if we had sex tonight could that still be a possibility x

@Samantha nope you're still in with a chance. Peak Saturday morning means you likely ovulated Saturday evening/early Sunday morning. Then the egg lasts until tomorrow morning. So you've got time

Thank you:) I wouldn’t say we are actively trying but we have never ruled out baby number 3 either and we have always said like if it happens it happen type thing But like today I am still In pain, I’m still bloated and back pain so I’m hoping that tonight could lead to something. We shall see:) I just hate it when it goes positive then a few hours later negative and you think have I missed that chance or am I still ovulating and the egg is waiting x
