Booking your GP / first midwife appointment

I found out I was pregnant on Friday when I was at the GP. She said I have to go online and book the aninatal etc, I've been through the nhs website and there no link to register etc. Isn't this something my GP should have done to refer me? I'm so confused. I'm nearly 8 weeks so aware my 12 weeks is very soon

Hi @Vicky, I’m in Scotland so may be different but I had to call my local maternity hospital & be booked in that way. They then told be to download the Badger app & complete the questionnaire & a midwife called to go over that in a few days & book an appt for bloods etc too. I was about 8 weeks when I did all that too. X

You have to fill out a self referral maternity form, then will get an email about when your first appointment is. I just typed into google self referral maternity form east Surrey as that’s where will be having baby and it came up. Hopefully works for you too x

Thank you everyone finally found it 😅

You have to fill out a self-referral form on the website of the hospital you plan to give birth at, they'll assign you a midwife.

It’s so confusing every area does it differently!! Glad you found it!
