Potty Training

Not sure if anyone’s started. I’m very relaxed right now I just wanted to get my boy used to the potty. He tells me when he needs to go even when he has a nappy on and will let me know if he’s done something. He now sits on the potty if I’m there with him and will wee inside it however, he puts his hands in the bowl whilst weeing 🤣 and he tries to touch it afterwards as well. Is there a way to stop this? I guess he’s fascinated about the process as he usually is wearing a nappy but it’s so dirty 😆. *We still have a lot of accidents on the floor but it’s getting better just need the potty close by to avoid it.

I tried to potty train my daughter but she seems scared to pee on the potty 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m sorry I’m not very helpful, but let me know if you have any advice

@Caron I bought a potty just before 18 months and I knew he wouldn’t be interested then but I had it out for him to see and tried to get him to sit down on it. At first he screamed and was scared, then I tried to introduce books as a distraction but he would only sit for seconds. I left it for a bit and I’ve been bringing it out here and there and now he loves sitting on it. We read loads of stories whilst he’s sitting and I’m starting to get him more aware that when you need to go, you go in the potty. I can tell when he needs to but he doesn’t always tell me and then there’s a big puddle on the floor 😅😂 we’ve only managed a wee in it so far

@Caron maybe try after bath time? That seems to be the most successful time. I sit him down on it after drying and read a few books and if he goes great and if not then I just put a nappy on him and get him dressed for bed
