Potty training??

Oh man guys I think it's happening! đŸ«Ł My 3 year old is taking his diapers off ALL the time now (so far no poopy ones). And he is very interested in flushing the toilet on his training potty (it makes noises!), and ours. He has a delay in speech so I was gonna wait until he was a bit more verbal until we tried potty training but it seems he is showing signs now. How do I proceed? I've seen people try letting them just run around naked. Won't he just pee/poo anywhere and make a mess? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

We started actively potty training our daughter. We have her on a schedule to where she will go on the potty every hour and a half. We have training pants on her and when the alarm goes off, we go to the potty. She’s starting to know when it’s potty time.

Potty training can be messy, leaving them with no diaper is the best way to potty train in my opinion though you just have to be prepared to clean up. But to potty training you’re supposed to take time and make sure all your time can go to potty training or it will take longer. He doesn’t really have to talk either maybe try to teach him the hand sign for pee/poop or toilet if he can do signs. My son was the same at 2 and couldn’t talk and still did good. If you see him do anything on the floor move him straight to his toilet. I’ve potty trained 2 and about to start my 3rd đŸ˜«

That’s pretty much what we did! Except we had her wear panties that way she wasn’t just completely bear butt. Yes, pee kinda gets everywhere so just be prepared if that’s the route you’re going to go, we started during a long weekend when my husband was off of work so that every time she went potty one of us could run her to the potty (so that she could associate her going pee with sitting on the potty) and the other one would clean up the mess. After about 3 days we were down to one accident a day and after about a week total she was pretty good! It also helps if you set a time and try taking them to sit every 1-2 hours to try sitting and make it a HUGE deal when they go! We had stickers for every time she sat on the potty and chocolate chips or some other small candy for any time she went potty!

Amazon also has potty watches that play songs when it’s time to try sitting on the potty, my daughter really liked those too!

As long as he is able to communicate with you that he needs to pee or poop, you are fine to start. I highly recommend the biglittlefeelings potty training course. I didn’t follow it to a T but it was super helpful and my kid was potty trained in 3 days (over a long weekend).
