Gestational diabetes

I had it with my first born. How likely is it I am to have it now with my second? As I am pregnant again. Is it possible I could have a pregnancy without it ? Would anyone have any intel on this…

It's a high likelihood but not certain. I'm 23 weeks right now with my second and asking the same questions. If you made lifestyle changes/diet changes from your first pregnancy that can affect your risk. Also, my midwife recommended vitamin d as a supplement as vitamin d deficiencies have been linked with gd. All that being said, you might still get it. I've been really hoping to not have it this time but trying to mentally prepare myself if I do so it's not such a shock/letdown as last time.

Thank you Miriam some interesting points there I appreciate the comments! … thinking of you and fingers crossed for you also. Thanks again for taking the time to msg x

Getting diabetes in your pregnancy isn’t really diet related it’s just hormones from placenta preventing your body to make enough insulin however being overweight etc can increase the chance but a lot of healthy people get it too so I wouldn’t blame yourself and it’s not 100% guaranteed that you’ll get it again it’s about 1 in 3 chance x

It’s very possible to not have it with your next pregnancy. Feel free to DM me I’m happy to help

I had it in my first and fourth pregnancy, I didn’t have it with second or third xxx

Thank you very much x
