Anyone with high TSH / hypothyroidism?

I had my bloodwork done at 10weeks and it looks like I have elevated TSH (4.56) and I’m being started on medication. Anyone else have any experience with this? I’m a bit nervous it wasn’t found until now- but we just saw baby on the ultrasound on Monday looking just fine.

I started medication 3 weeks before getting pregnant, they told me it needed to be below 2.5 when trying to conceive. It was 4.29… i got it checked again at 4 weeks pregnant and it was 2.93 so they increased the dose. By 8weeks I was below the 2.5. I am on a really small dose now and they continue to check every month.

@Mayra thank you for the response! I was around 1 prior to ttc so I didn’t need anything at that time but then my 10 week bloodwork jumped quite a bit higher

I have Graves’ disease so my thyroids always a problem child lol but you’ll just have to play with the medication to see what keeps you at a good level, I was just high at my first appt and they upped my dose. It’s actually a pretty simple issue to treat as long as you stay on your meds😊

They also said it didn’t mean i would need the meds after pregnancy so don’t worry too much about it. Its easy to control

I’ve had hypothyroidism and taken medicine for over 10 years. Mine was increased by 25 mcg when I found out I was pregnant. I’m not a doctor, but I think it’s good your tsh was only 4.56 and not a lot higher, that is a plus to me. Sometimes people’s tsh is a lot higher upon finding out. The medication will make you feel better if you’ve had any symptoms.
