Rainbow baby

Hi all, I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant with our rainbow baby following a loss at 24 weeks back in February this year. I have seen the consultant for the first time today, he has mentioned about progesterone pessaries to optimise my chances of keeping my cervix closed. He also mentioned a stitch but is more inclined to try the pessaries first. Has anyone else had these? What’s your experiences? I feel so anxious and scared. My loss was due to infection. I have been reassured they will be scanning my cervix regularly to keep a check on that.

I’m very sorry to hear this and for your loss! I’ve also had two losses now! What was the infection you had did they say it is quite rare?

@Lucie hiya, it was called chorioamnionitis. It caused preterm rupture of the membranes. They have no idea how I got it , they say that in pregnancy all your hormones are inbalanced and there is different bacteria’s in the vagina and this bacteria travelled up causing my waters to break early ;(. I had a healthy low risk text book pregnancy. It came out of nowhere xx

I’m so sorry 😔😔 how awful! What are they doing this time to keep an eye on it? X

I had the same thing which caused my loss at 20 weeks in June. Just got a positive pregnancy test yesterday 😱 I had the cerclage and used the progesterone as well. I’ve always wondered if the progesterone could’ve been a factor because you had to insert them vaginally yourself because I have racked my brain to figure out how the infection could’ve happened. I was getting checked regularly for the cerclage. 😕 I know I would automatically get a preventative cerclage between 10-12 weeks this time (my last one was at 17 weeks bc I had a short cervix and had already started to dilate) PRAYING that these are the rainbows we hoped for! Sending you so much love

@Candyce bless you. It’s hard to wonder about these things. I racked my brain so much when they told me I had an infection, to the point me and my partner have decided we are not going to have sex during this new pregnancy just because of the risk. It eats you up but I have had to learn not to blame myself. Xx
