Measuring Ahead

Went to my OB yesterday at 34w5d & was told I’m measuring 37w3d. This is my second pregnancy- my first pregnancy my water broke at 35w so I’ve never made it this far. My question is… how did baby get to measuring 2 weeks ahead? This makes it so close to baby being here. My OB says I should consider another C-section due to my cervix not dilating at all my first labor. Has anyone had a similar experience? Thinking of just scheduling my C-section but not sure if i should wait it out to see what my body does this time. Any feedback is appreciated!

How did they confirm you are measuring ahead? Did they do a growth scan to confirm that?

@Neha I had my growth ultrasound scheduled for yesterday but the ultrasound tech called out so they had to reschedule me for next Monday. My OB did a quick ultrasound though since I was annoyed about the cancelation and he measured the babies head and it was measuring 37w3d

I would suggest to have a growth ultrasound as well since they have specialized machines for measuring growth. OB’s ultrasound machine not so much. And the growth scan actually tells how much baby is weighing approx. That will be much helpful to take a call if C section is needed vs not.

Ultrasounds are very unreliable when it comes to measuring size, especially further along in pregnancies. I personally would not make any birth plans based on these estimates

@Neha thank you so much! I appreciate it!

@Madeleine I will keep this in mind. Thank you so much!

Does a baby measuring ahead mean your contraception date changed to two weeks ahead?

No

Also measuring 2 weeks ahead over here and my dr still isn’t being straight about what she’s thinking options are so at least yours is 🤷🏼‍♀️ 35 weeks today and going for a 3rd growth scan in two weeks

My baby has been measuring 2 weeks ahead for a while now. It doesn't change my due date, just means his a big boy. My 13 month old measured 3 weeks ahead for more than half my pregnancy. I was induced at 39 weeks. He was 9.2 pounds at birth.

Holy cow 9.2lbs 😅

@Viktorea W yep! My babies just keep getting bigger. First was 8 pounds and 8.15. My doctor keeps saying he bets this one will be the biggest.. 😫

@Heather 9.2 pounds oh my
