Hospital bill

Just curious, what insurance do you have and how much in hospital bills did they run ya out of pocket?? I just got another bill yesterday and I’m so over it 😤

I have Cigna. I work in government so I thought it was “good” insurance. The bill for delivery was about $7500 out of pocket, even though we were quoted $2700 and it was a straightforward delivery, so I don’t know what that’s about, but anyway. The bills from (a healthy, normal) pregnancy for labs, ultrasounds, and visits, total about $2000, as well as another $2000 bill from where I was in a small car accident at 35 wks and had to go into triage and get checked out. I have an “out of pocket maximum” of $4500/year, but somehow they’ve still squeezed it all out of me. And they ask why no one is having kids anymore! 🫠

BCBS , I had several complications resulting in a C/section. We ended up paying $1,800 out of pocket but the bill was well over $50,000

@Lydia I have United and our deductible went up to 7k so we paid that out of pocket

Cigna and we paid about $2000 for baby and me for hospital care and ob. A lot depends on what you have during labour with my induction (pitocin and antibiotics) it cost $4000 for just me.

My husband had gotten the most expensive Aetna plan and all of his our bills combined worked out to be $8500. Apparently with Aetna, you have to pay20% after the deductible is reached. With my first, I was on my mom’s excellus BCBS plan. She’s a teacher. The only bill I had was for his circumcision, which was about $600

@Ericha that’s insane! Yes I still have to pay a portion of my bills after I meet the deductible. Its insane

Oh yeah, I knew it was going to be expensive, but it was absolutely ridiculous. My entire birth was 3 hours from the time contractions started. I arrived at 7 cm, was in triage at 8.5 cm and I was only at the hospital for a total of 45 minutes before my daughter was born. Next time, I’m having a home birth.

I have mass health I didnt have to pay for anything throughout the pregnancy

Kaiser Perm employee with their employee health plan. The bill for induction, vaginal delivery, extra nights stay for my blood pressure was $18,500, I paid $100.

BCBS of Alabama. Paid nothing out of pocket. Insurance covered everything the bill was $20,000

We have BCBC. My I ended up delivering early from high blood pressure complications. Total bill came to about $45k and we ended up paying $700 out of pocket.

I just paid my $500 deductible for anything billed to me. I also had a copay for the pain meds I was prescribed when I was discharged. A smaller bill was billed to my son (which is just ridiculous, clearly my son doesn't have a job to pay for his own circumcision) and because we hadn't met his deductible we had to pay that also (around $120).

I have United and ended up over $4,000 out of pocket for myself and baby, not including the pre-delivery costs of ultrasounds.

@Ashleigh same!!!! And some bills are still rolling in

I had some surprising ones roll in months after delivery but I was luckily at out of pocket max and insurance covered them. It’s crazy that they can charge 3 months after
