exempted from work

does anyone know how to legally be exempted from work and be a stay at home mom ? i am a mother with social anxiety and have not been actually diagnosed but it has caused me to be unable to work, it’s so hard for me to get out of the house and i am wondering how i can get help from the state to help exempt myself from working and be a full time stay at home mom

Hey! I have never heard of someone being legally exempt from work unless they have disabilities. Because you are undiagnosed, this won’t do anything for you. Depending on your state, you can be on Welfare and food stamps but the application process takes months, they have gotten stricter over the years and honestly it’s not as much as what people got back in the day. I would advise you maintain your job for the sake of providing for yourself and your child. In the interim, apply for another job that will suit your mental state.

I'm a sahm and a carer for my eldest daughter who is type 1 diabetic

Agree with DAYSH. I have a special needs 14 yr old and we still don't qualify for benefits with.my husband being the only one working, an 11 month old and me being 9 months pregnant.

It sounds like you need to actually be diagnosed and go through the long process of trying to get disability. I don't think it's easy to do so with social anxiety because it's something you can get therapy for (which is a good idea anyway) but you probably need to start with your primary care doc and go from there.

To be exempt from work it’s usually due to things like disability or having a stroke etc conditions that make it harder for day to day tasks but it all has to be diagnosed and you’d need to have evidence for it to be claimed which will also take time
