i’ve been nexplanon for 9 months and so far it’s not that bad but my period does seem a lil irregular but other than that my periods come on just fine

I had it for 2 years. The first year was awesome. My period was regular and only lasted 4 days vs the 7 days it lasted before birth control. I gained like 10 pounds but I was alright with that. After a year of having it I started spotting and it just never stopped. Once I had it removed it took another 3 months before the bleeding stopped and I regulated again.

not to scare you but i had a terrible experience with the bleeding. the only pro was that i didn’t get pregnant. my periods are 5 days long and being on it made mine a month + with spoting to heavy bleeding. i had to get on birth control pills to help regulate it. i ended up dealing with it bc i didn’t have insurance to get it out nor the money out of pocket. i hope you have a better experience than I did. i think i’m an outlier

I’ve had it twice. First time was brilliant. I had maybe 2/3 periods in the whole 3 years and regulated about a month after it got taken out. Second time was a nightmare. I was constantly bleeding for the first 4/5 months and then got pregnant on it. It’s all down to how your body reacts to the hormone really, hope it goes well.

I’ve had it twice too. As others have said, first time was great, my periods stopped completely and all was well, though it did make my boobs go down a size 🙃. Second time not so great, periods were irregular so never knew when they would come annoyingly. Then started getting shooting pains in the arm where it is and muscle twitches. Had it removed November 2022 and within 3 months my period regulated again (I fell pregnant 3 months on the dot pretty much!), but I still get the odd pain and twinge in my arm now, and I’m almost 2 years out! Doctor thinks it just caught a nerve but it’s annoying as hell when it happens. Avoiding getting another one tbh

I have had it for 5 years and have no side effects I was able to breastfeed my baby for 2 years being on it . I prefer it over all the other birth control.
