I'm not sure about efficacy, but please make an appointment to get it removed/replaced. I had one and due to $ issues didn't get it removed until it was like 5 months past expiration and it was awful having it removed. My dr had to use pliers/forceps in one hand to yank it out while the other held my arm down/in place. I had significant bruising and pain afterwards for a couple weeks.

I think it still gives you a bit of protection after expiry but I'm not totally sure.... I had the 3 year one past the expiry due to COVID.
