Low White Blood Cells

My baby is 8 weeks old, and I had a blood draw before 8 days after she was born, and my white blood cell count was normal. Then, a month later, I had a low white blood cell count. A week and a half later, they retested it, and it's still low. Has anyone dealt with this? What did it mean for you? I'm feeling very worried. I have an appointment tomorrow with my primary care provider.

Do you know how low it was? I’ve run as low as 3.4 and up to 8.0 in the past and it wasn’t concerning, just a normal variation for me. My mom runs the same way and we don’t get sick very often at all. Having a recent viral infection can also drop your wbc a little bit (as well as elevate it). Also, being pregnant can raise your wbc count so it could also be possible that the labs you had drawn right after birth were a little elevated for you personally and now they’re settling into their normal. I really would not worry, these things can fluctuate a bit. Maybe take some extra vitamin C in the meantime but always good to follow up with a PCP anyway.

@Victoria on 7/31, it was a 2, and on 8/12, it was a 2.7. But on 6/24, it was an 8. My baby was born on 6/16.

@Victoria so i had my blood drawn today and my white blood cell count is 2.6. They ran more blood tests to narrow down, which white blood cell is low. It's my neutrophil, which is a 0.9.
