I agree with Becca, but you can request one.. I just encourage you to brace for impact. they can be really uncomfortable
They started only at 36 weeks for me. I don't think there is a need to do before that if everything is going good.
My doctors start at 37 weeks, but they aren’t the best indicator. With my first pregnancy I was the same at each check for four weeks. You can always ask and they’ll tell you what they prefer:) but don’t be discouraged if there isn’t any “progress” each week. Once your baby is ready, baby will definitely let you know lol
If it makes you feel less worried I'm almost 39 weeks and it hasn't been mentioned at all, I've been offered a sweep at my 39+2 appointment and I'm assuming they'll check it first (I know they can't always actually do the sweep if your cervix isnt ready)
There’s no reason unless you’re having some kind of leaking or contractions
My ob told me to go to hospital to get check cuz they don't do it till 37 weeks but I'm wanting to b induced at 37
My midwife says there’s really not a point in checking until you’re in active labor. She has seen women be dilated to 4 cm for 3 weeks and women who weren’t dilated at all and end up in labor dilated to a 10 the next day.
I had mine at 39 weeks I was 3cm on a thursday then gave birth on Saturday. My mom asked me the same thing but a lot has changed.
There's no point doing cervical checks. It only tells you what your cervix is doing right now, it could change within an hour or it could stay the same for weeks. It's an infection risk and doesn't give you any info.
@Vada ok, correction. out patient cervical checks in labour are pointless. In labour they have limited use
They typically don't offer them until around 38 weeks unless there's a reason to check earlier :)
