Perineal massage

I have tried about 3 times and can only do about a minute as I find it too uncomfortable 😩 my baby is measuring big so I really want to try to keep going but I also read that if it causes you discomfort then to not continue? Has anyone else had this and then found that it got better after sticking to it?

I got my partner to do the massage for me as I found it too hard to reach 🤣 the first time he did it, it was uncomfortable and slightly painful but we've been doing it 3/4 times a week since week 35 and it's much better now, so I'd say persevere but I would imagine that a short massage is better than nothing 😊

Thanks @Jess ! I got the frida massage wand. How long do you do it for?

We do 5 mins of the massage then twice just stretch the area for a minute, I used this link for details on doing it 😊 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pregnancybirthbaby.org.au/amp/article/perineal-massage

@Jess yano what else, I don’t know why but it makes me feel squeamish 😂 so I don’t think that helps, maybe im too tense 😬

If your partner is willing get them to do it! Get a good oil and make sure you use enough of it. Try to relax or it does get painful/uncomfortable. The more you do it, the easier it becomes xx

@Kirsty can you recommend a good oil, Iv seen stretch oils but wasn’t sure if they were worth it? X

@Jessica https://www.letstalkbirthandbaby.co.uk/product/perineal-massage-oil This is what I've got. It's expensive but goes a long way. Doesn't go sticky or dry up either x

First time I tried I nearly cried and thought that was it I can't do it. Then I endured it day after day and 2-3 weeks in it is bearable for a couple of minutes. I still can't do it without some help, so I use a durex lube to make it sleek 😀

Thanks girls! I’ll try to persevere through it! X
