Cost of delivery

Cesarean in NY, just under $10k after insurance. This was combined between me and my daughter. Neither one of us had any complications. I applied for Medicaid a couple months after birth and they covered everything. So, I ultimately paid nothing to have my child (as I believe it should be).

Mine was about the same, around 3 grand after insurance. That was for c section and 2 night hospital stay. No complications

Free in the UK along with 5 days as an inpatient

I was able to get medicaid so I didn't have to pay anything for my c section

I had pretty good insurance and vaginal delivery, didn’t pay a thing

I dread to think what my first would have cost if in the US! Emergency c-section and 10 week neonatal stay for my baby! Completely free here in the uk thank god!

Im Canadian and it is free for us here I feel like it should be for everyone I think there is an option to have a better room and to pay but most people get a private room for frrr

I haven’t seen a bill for my 15 month old or my 4 week old

With insurance, mine is about $1700. I'm on a payment plan up until my delivery date so that it will be fully paid upon leaving the hospital. Of course this is for natural delivery. I'm sure if a cesarean is needed, I'll have to pay more.

I think cost is based on what plan you have. I have a high deductible plan with $5800 deductible, my husband saw some doctors before delivery so we paid whatever was left to reach deductible (3-4k), if we have reached deductible before it would have been $0

Mine was 8k after insurance, also c-section

So scary to read! I know we obviously pay towards it in our taxes and national insurance but we’re so lucky to have free healthcare in the UK!

After insurance, I owed like $2000...maybe $2500.

I have really good insurance and everything is paid for.

@Alaina omg that’s crazy!!! My insurance was like $150/month it’s crazy to think you had to pay over $1k/month and still another $8k

Nowt/Zero/Zip/Zilch/Nada ... Vaginal delivery, epidural, 1 night in the maternity ward in a curtained off bay, 1 night in a private room in the midwife led unit (+ the early hours before I gave birth as arrived at hospital 2am and went up to labour ward around 7am), plus some very yummy meals and breastfeeding support. I wouldn't have been able to afford to have my daughter without the NHS 💙

@Agne it’s not ideal! My household is a bit unusual though because we are both contractors so we don’t get traditional benefits. We can make more that way but without benefits some of it evens out …

Vaginal delivery, 3 nights in hospital, around $3500 after insurance because that’s what’s left towards my out of pocket maximum

Ours ended up being about 1k for vaginal with epidural and my son having a week stay in the NICU. And that’s with really good insurance!

Free, had a c section and had to stay in for over 24 hours. I’m uk based though and we have the NHS which I’m thankful for every day 💕

@Amy frightening isn’t it! We are so lucky here in the Uk to have the NHS and think how many people are eligible for free IVF here too, won’t be the case in many other countries xx

This just makes me sad to live in the US 😫 I pay $500 a month for insurance and still had to pay $3,000 out of pocket after insurance 😭

@Angel look into Medicaid. I wasn't eligible while working and pregnant, but I was after I had my baby and was on leave. They back pay medical bills up to 3 months. It doesn't hurt to apply.

$2400. I birthed at a birth center in Texas and my insurance paid part of it.

I'm from Wisconsin and I was billed about 10k for a c-section. I applied for assistance and the hospital knocked it down to 1k, thank God.

@Jade very! I also had an emergency section and we were in for a week with little one in the NICU for a couple of days. Imagine then having a bill to pay! 😵

@Heather I get 100% pay during my maternity leave and make too much money to qualify 🙁
