Just a rant

Honestly these fasting sugars are doing my head in! Every morning they hover around 5.3 which shows up as red on the app but the midwife told me that was the limit and nothing I do is changing it. I’m on 2g of metformin daily and currently 16 units of insulin which I may have to increase yet again! It feels like I’m always playing catch up. My first pregnancy was a breeze compared to this it feels like if anything can go wrong it’s going to! I hate injecting myself, the mental load of running a household, looking after a toddler who potentially has autism, dealing with a relationship breakdown and constantly having to think about what I’m eating and if I’ve done enough exercise is exhausting, I just wanna climb into bed with a film and eat shit food like Ice cream and chocolate and pizza without worrying about my sugars. I just needed to rant as it feels like the very few people I have around me don’t get it or just say it will be over soon but soon feels like forever away right now.

I don't have any advice but all I can say is I feel you! I'm the same, feel like nothing I do changes the outcome, it makes you feel mentally so low! You are doing an amazing job with what you can in your situation, try giving yourself some well deserved credit! X

That sounds really tough. Just to say my trust told me to up my insulin by 4 units automatically if I get a fasting over 5. I've only been on insulin 1 week and I'm already at 26 units, started on 14 one week ago. If you are UK based some good treats that might help are oppo ice-cream, that usually gives good readings as it is high protein. I also found "my protein" pizzas in Iceland which are pricey but I can eat half and get readings on the 5s. They are so filling I'd normally eat a whole pizza easily but can only eat half of one of those. But yeah as above sounds like you are dealing with a lot and having fastings around 5.3 might not be perfect but you are obviously working hard. I'd ask them to up insulin or if they have some method like I described above so you can just increase insulin when you need and don't have to worry about it.

Thank you for the advice @Tanya and thank you @Alice xx

I absolutely feel you!
