Postpartum recovery - pads?

What do you recommend for postpartum recovery after vaginal delivery? Are maternity pads sufficient? I have these long overnight pads I wonder if I can use. I also got a peri bottle and a perineal healing foam thing but not sure what else I might need? I’ve been reading about these padcicles (the ones where you apply aloe Vera and such to the pads and freeze them) but can anyone advise? What do I need to make them and are they worthwhile?

Maternity pads are definitely needed for a while, they are significantly bigger and thicker, lilets ones are great. Padsicles are maternity pads with aloe vera or witch hazel spread on them then just popped in the freezer as you said. I personally didn't make those but bought some ice pack pads that you crack and they go cold and put them on your underwear for a bit.

I bought nappies and just wore those for a couple of days- I will say dont buy black ones as I did as I couldnt monitor my blood loss as I couldn’t see the blood 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

I just wore nappies as they were so comfortable for me, the maternity pads never stayed on for me. Maybe just take a couple of maternity pads and nappies and see which one you feel more comfortable with. Then you can always buy more

It’s personal preference really but I got a few pairs of disposable underwear but didn’t really find them comfortable. So I got maternity pads… which btw if you’re going to buy them… Get more than you think you need 😅 I had “spritz for bits” spray which I would sometimes spray on to the pad for a cooling effect x

I had maternity pads which I put inside disposable undershorts (Friday brand,, I think). I found I needed to change the pad every 4 - 6 hours initially, so you will almost certainly need more than you think you will. I was still wearing them until about 3 weeks after delivery as well. I didn't use any cooling things, but make sure you take paracetamol and ibuprofen regularly to keep on top of the discomfort.

I wore adult diapers, that was more comfortable to me than a pad with disposable underwear. I took ibuprofen and tylenol for pain every 6hrs. Also took a sitz bath twice a day and used a peri bottle everytime l use the bathroom with kosher salt and water in there to prevent infections (just an extra precaution).
