Potty training

Hey, moms! I want to ask what your thoughts are about potty training. When do you plan to start, and how?

Im still in the process of potty training my 2.5 year old. We started at the beginning of june, and she has pee down, but not poop. Few tips: wait until they are ready - which is when they can pull/push their pants by themselves, when they hide to poop, take their diapers off constantly after going to the bathroom and can understand/communicate when told to do something. All these things will make it exponentially easier! For us, she was showing signs of readiness around 2, but with a new baby, i needed to wait until i had the commitment and time to put her first. Potty training isn't for the faint of heart, lol!

Children can't really control their bladder needed for potty training until two, and that's not all kids, it can take longer. Plus, it's often closer to 3 until they can have decent enough control at night. Then, they have to learn to master the fact that their body now has the skill to control it. Look good readiness because starting before will just make you both frustrated. I started my daughter at 2, and she caught on super quick. I don't anticipate that with my son because I hear/ what I've seen, It takes longer for boys. I'll watch him, give him opportunities, starting at 2 but wait until it seems like he's ready

My first was day time potty trained by 18 months old. Night time is more developmental but she was night potty trained by 2.5. Doing the same with my second. I’ll probably start putting her on the little potty around a year at each diaper change and go from there. Did the 3 day potty training thing with my first and it worked well.

@Joi what’s the three day potty training thing 👀

I started when mine started walking. My thinking is if u can walk u can start. Mine pushes back but is familiar and sometimes tries to come and tell me to go to potty. It’s been about six months and still not potty trained. More aware of having to pee so that’s a step in the right direction. Only has pooed three times on potty so far.

My little man in 11 months and we started introducing the potty and I him, after I sit and go potty, I sit him on it for a few seconds, no expectations just sit until he wants to get down

I did the oh crap method with my twins at 2.5 yrs. This is the 3 day method. It was hard but it worked for one of them lol. Took a lot longer with the other. I am hoping to start sooner with this baby girl. We’ll see 🤪

@CJ it was a method I found on YouTube. If you search on there I’m sure a few pop up

Don’t start potty training until your child shows interest. When they’re ready to know they’ll ask.
