Advice

Hi no dentists seem to be taking on new nhs patients. Currently 9 month pregnant with a 14 month old and worrying about them never having a check up. Anyone know any in Glasgow?

It's the same all over the country. I ended up going private, costs me £60 a year for a check up and my kids get seen for free until they turn 6yrs old so it's worth it for me. My eldest is still on an NHS waiting list 4yrs after I registered him!! He's had 8 check ups in that time x

60 a year isn’t that bad do you know if they are all like this?

I'm not sure, I guess they can make up their own prices being private. Ive never had problems with my teeth so the £60 is literally just one check up a year and it means my kids get 2 a year for free. My husband pays £20 a month for his dentist but he has hygiene visits for deep cleans because he didn't look after his teeth as a kid x

I highly recommend going private. It’s a great investment whilst they are little and doesn’t cost much at all in the grand scheme of things. Easy to get appointments and gets them used to seeing a dentist whilst they are young.

My eldest is 2 and half and we took her just before she was 2, I have a NHS dentist and she said as a mum herself the reason to take them early to the dentist is to get them used to the senario of the dentist chair. However as a dentist they can’t do anything apart from look in the mouth until they are 3 when they can apply fluoride so as long as your brushing then it’s not essential. So no pressure if they haven’t been yet and you may be able to wait until they take on new patients
