Potty training help!

We’re potting training! Is it best to keep reminding him every 20 minutes and get him to Sit on the potty and try or should I be waiting for him to tell me there’s wee coming so he knows when it’s time to sit on the potty ? Any advice or tips appreciated!!

When I started I would remind him every 20 mins/half hour and gradually he started telling me instead

I watched for cues then told her “you need a wee” then brought the potty to where she was for her to go in the very early days. Nowadays she just tells me when she needs to go. I’ve never done the whole putting on the potty every so often thing but tbh I think either method would work x

So I kind of did both 😂. He mostly needed prompting but a couple of times just took himself to the potty! Two tiny wee accidents but caught himself and held it to get to the potty. One poo accident (luckily in the garden!) He’ll be at nursery now for 4 days so we’ll see how he gets on in pants!!

How do manage to get them to sit down? My little boy will not sit on the potty but happily says I need a wee🙈. I’m gonna try one of the stand up potties but any tips would be fab.

Bribes, over the top praise when he does, will he let you put him on it? Perseverance is the key apparently. After a week of dry pants (other than poos) we’ve taken a step backwards today and every wee has been in pants. Nursery have said it’s common and perseverance and sticking with it is the key!
