SAHM? WFHM? Working mom?

Whats your plan after birth?? I go back and forth almost daily. We can afford it, but I enjoy my career. I’m nervous about what it would do for our retirement, and we’d have to dial back our lifestyle a bit. And honestly I’m a lil nervous I’d be bored.

I’m currently a work from home mom, hoping to be stay at home after my maternity leave when baby #2 arrives! 🙏🏻 I do love my job, but nothing makes me happier than spending time with my son(and next baby once they’re here!) and having the freedom to go and do whatever we want/whenever we want. Visit family, play dates, shopping/errands, fun kid activities, etc. Every time I have to sit at my desk and he has to play alone it just breaks my heart. 😭 I feel like I miss out on so much when I’m staring at my computer half the day. But not everyone feels that way! You’ll know what’s right for you when that time comes ♥️🙏🏻

Don’t make plans until the kid gets here. Everything changes majorly once they arrive. You likely won’t want to jump back in immediately. I’m a 13 year in career woman who’s obsessed with my job (Costume Designer for film and television) and have been home with my son for 14 of the 17 months he’s been here. Took a quick 3 month gig. It was SO hard to be away from him. Also, you won’t be “bored” if anything you’ll crave independence and human conversations with grown ups. That’s what got me back to work. X

I’m currently a stay at home mom but will be starting work about a month and a half after baby girl is born. We can afford me not working but the extra money working from home is going to be awesome. I’m basically being handed all of my clients as soon as I start work

I was in the same boat as you, and just recently made a hard decision. I work as a school psychologist, and absolutely LOVE my job. My job gives me a lot of self-worth and the socialization I crave. That being said I will have 3 under 2 at home, and feel like that is where I will be needed. This season of life only comes once. The job (hopefully) is always there to go back to. I got a taste of SAHM life this summer when school wasn’t in session. I’m not going to lie to you, I was depressed for a little bit. BUT, then I created a daily schedule and started working on projects I would have never gotten to before (knitting, reading books, organizing the basement, etc.) and I began to feel fulfilled. If you go the SAHM route, you may be like me, and just need a schedule/activities planned each day to make it feel fulfilling. All that being said, there is no right or wrong choice, and you will ultimately make the right choice for you and your family in the end ❤️ Good luck!!
