SAHM

Trying to get advice. I’m a month from returning back from maternity leave. Currently paying $987 a week for my two kids under two at daycare and for three it would be $1600/week. Which is more than we can afford. My husband is in construction and makes 160k annually. I currently make 100k and we are currently struggling and living paycheck to paycheck. I asked my job if I can work remotely until I find adequate care for my third child and they told me that I can be hybrid for two days a week. However I don’t have anyone to watch her at all. Also can’t afford $1600 a week on daycare expenses alone. How are other moms doing it?

I hear ya. Daycare is more than my mortgage every month. I have a 1 year old and 2 year old. My family makes half what yours does. We don’t qualify for assistance either. It’s crazy hard

@Jacqui how are you holding up? Are you working full time? It’s crazy daycare being paid more than mortgages.

We have a household income of half that. However we are lucky enough to both work from home. We don’t send our little one to day care, we just can’t afford it. We watch her ourselves while working and it’s absolutely super fucking hard but I don’t see any other way. I’m currently pregnant with our second and we are considering me quitting my job. We just don’t see the point of spending nearly all of my paycheck on childcare.
