First doctor visit

Our health insurance ended a month ago, and my husband's new job does not start until September 2nd. I am currently six weeks pregnant and confirmed my pregnancy through a home test. Due to the insurance gap, I would have to wait until September to visit the doctor and receive a check-up. By then, I will be approximately ten weeks pregnant. Would that be late for my first doctor visit or should I try to see a doctor before and just pay out of pocket for the visit?

do you mean weeks? haha 10 weeks is fine for your first visit unless you experience heavy bleeding and/or bad cramps. lots of people on here say their OB won't even see them until they're 10/12 weeks

I had to find a new ObB since we moved recently and I'll be 10 weeks at my first appt. I think if it's your first they usually go ahead and see you sooner just to confirm and make sure you have all the info you need (take prenatals, careful of some foods/caffeine, avoid certain medications). If your previous coverage was through his employer, you should be eligible for COBRA coverage if you can pay out of pocket for the gap. I'd do it if possible because I'm paranoid, but you'll probably be fine.

I personally don’t think that’s too late. Some people don’t find out they are pregnant until many weeks on. I also switched doctors in my third trimester my last pregnancy, so I know a doctor won’t refuse to see you because of that

I will also be 10 weeks at my first appointment, although I would've loved to have an earlier one that's the earliest they could schedule me. I think it's normal!
