Recent events

My LBs nursery are amazing. They have been fab since day one. But given the recent incidents with the EDL, I'm really anxious about sending him in tomorrow. He's the only non- white toddler there, bar one black child. I read today a childminder posted that all immigrants should be sent back and burned alive. I know it's probably a rare and one women with her racist views but it makes me worried. How many of the the all white staff at my little ones nursery share the same view? Would they treat my boy any differently becuase of what's going on. I was thinking of flagging how I feel to the nursery, Just making them aware that it's a trying time for some people, maybe ask about their checks or policies around diversity. Is that a silly thing to do? For context I'm British born but my grandparents were born in india.

I’m so sorry you are feeling like this. It’s absolutely horrible what is going on. I feel that it’s important to tell them how you are feeling, that’s come From what you’ve seen in the news, and from doing so, you’ll find out where they stand. Hopefully you’ll come out feeling like they’d do all they can do protect your little one and make sure he never feels like you do now xx

I'm sorry you're feeling like this, our nursery put out a statement regarding children's safety and condemning the racist riots and domestic terrorism. There are quite a few children at my nursery that are POC and speaking to other mums the statement really helped ease their mind. Maybe it's worth speaking to the director of your nursery?

My heart is hurting for you, I am so sorry. I was thinking the same, thought my son is Caucasian but I am not British, and he is the only one who is not fully British in the nursery. At this moment, I just dont trust anyone. You should definitely share your concerns with the nursery, and they should make sure every kid is safe and looked after equally. I wish you all the best and I hope none of this will affect your family ❤️

Hey all, thank you for the replies. I really appreciate it. I emailed the nursery with some honest thoughts and requested reassurance around thier policy and training. They gave it. They welcomed my thoughts and were very reassuring. I do wish they had put out a notice about it, but maybe it's too political at topic for some. I'm all for protests as a civil right, but rioting and racism should have no place in the UK xx Thank you ladies xx
