Health Insurance!

Hi Mamas ❤️ So I’m looking into health insurance options right now. There’s some background to this so sorry it’s a bit long Basically, my daughter and I are on state insurance due to income. I didn’t report that I was with my partner (my daughter’s father) he has insurance through his work. He works in CT and but my mom lives in MA so I say I live with her. We’re looking to move into a bigger apartment in MA to keep those benefits (we also get EBT and WIC in MA) but we’re STRUGGLING to find one in the area where my partner still has a reasonable commute to work. Okay, would it be worth it to move into CT or even RI and have a family insurance plan with his work? How expensive are those plans…? My daughter has a serious chronic disease that requires her to visit with Boston specialists at least every 3 months and has caused one admission to the hospital (so far). She also NEEDS multiple medications from specialty pharmacies and medical equipment and will for her whole life. We are due with baby #2 in January and waiting on results if this baby will also have the genetic disease. I don’t think it’s worth the cheaper rent but I’m really not sure. Does anyone have any advice?

Family insurance plans range from $100-$300 per check, depending on if the employer helps cover the premium. You’ll also most likely have deductibles and copays with his employer’s plan. So really the money you’d be saving on rent would be going towards the new insurance plan

@Kassidi that’s exactly what I thought would happen thank you so much!!

Tell him to ask his HR. It's so job-specific that we can't really advise you without the info. My husband's company covers his family 100%. Mine doesn't cover spouses or children but has a much better plan. Totally depends - you need to do a cost benefits analysis with the real info.

@JL oh good advice thank you very much I’ll do that!
