"Dummy teeth" concerns

So sorry she has ice cream in her mouth in this 🙈 best photo I could find (click to see full) My daughter turned 3 on 1st July and absolutely loves her dummy. It's her biggest comfort, but I only allow it when she's tired/about to go to sleep (bedtime/naptime). I always get 'orthodontic dummies' as assumed these are best, but I'm starting to worry about her teeth. Does anyone have any knowledge on teeth, will the dummy impact her adult teeth? I do aim to get rid of dummy asap!

Usually it’s just the baby teeth that are affected but it can also cause the roof of the mouth to become misshapen so best to get rid of it asap. My daughter also only used it for sleep and was obsessed with it. We made a big deal of saying goodbye to it, and I made a fairy garden in the garden for her the next morning and said the fairies took it away. Every day for 3 days a new fairy appeared in the garden. She cried a little night 1, whinged for 2 mins night 2 and that was it. Woke up every day excited to go see the fairies in the garden!

We’ve just gone cold turkey with the dummy, currently on day 3. I was dreading it because she loves her dummy so much and I didn’t want to take it away and it to affect her sleep but she’s really surprised! She’s not even cried for it either, she’s asked a few times (at bed time) but we have told her the fairies have taken them for the new babies and she will get a surprise at the end of the week. I think it helps that her aunty is having a baby this month so she thinks the fairies have taken the dummies for her baby!x

My eldest had a dummy until he was probably 3.5 years old, his teeth were similar to this and once we got rid of the dummy they went back! My 2021 boy still has his just for bedtime but it’s absolutely minging and it needs to go! Planning on the ‘dum dum fairy’ coming to take it to a baby who needs it this weekend and leave a surprise which is an electric toothbrush…he loves using his brothers so got him his own x

Dummies push your teeth forwards, best to get off it now. Surprisingly my daughter gave hers up really quickly and easily and I was so shocked! X

Tell her the dummy fairies are coming to take her dummies for little babies that need them. And reward her for giving them up . . It might be really easy or it could be hard for the first few days . . 😬

My daughter loved hers but gave it to the Easter bunny and hasn’t had it since. Thought it was going to be hell but actually she gave it up so easily. Deffo give getting rid a go 🥰

Just to follow on from this, the dum dum fairy came a couple of weeks ago and my little boy asked for it twice and that’s it, I thought it would be hell but he’s been absolutely fine!!
