Maybe try sudocreme? I wouldn’t even think to ask about creams 🙈

Topical cream like savlon is completely safe. They just have to say that to all pregnant women for any medication or creams. I’ve been told that at boots for gaviscon and even lockets x

Yeah I didn’t think would be an issue but she was quite insistent that I speak to dr. Told me sudacreme was worst thing I could put on it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am 99% sure that Boots have a corporate policy to not give advice or sell over the counter medication to pregnant women as a few weeks ago I got in an argument with them over iron tablets. They told me they were unwilling to sell them to me because of their “liability policy”. If you google it there is a Metro article about Boots and pregnant women. I now totally avoid boots and go to my local independent pharmacy who aren’t backwards and inhumane.

@Holly yeah they recently wouldn’t give one of my patients Cannesten even though I’d clearly written she needed it in her notes. Iron tablets though I get. Iron toxicity is pretty dangerous and in pregnancy iron fluctuates so much it’s not worth any pharmacy giving out iron to anyone who’s pregnant without a prescription

@Ceri-Ann It’s so frustrating, I have to drive to the hospital, park in the hospital car park (£££) and sit in a waiting room with my toddler until a midwife has time to come out and give me the pills theyve prescribed me/told me to take. All of this takes me several hours every 28 days and is very expensive. I was told alternatively I can just buy it over the counter when I asked if there’s another option. Boots say no, my local pharmacy are happy to do so. I tried to show them my notes but they didn’t care. I got in the argument because they had previously refused to help with a mosquito bite I had and suddenly the cogs in my brain started turning. The pharmacist as good as told me they have a blanket policy. The issue is that when they just refuse everything you have no way of knowing what is ACTUALLY dangerous to you and what is just them trying to dodge liability and it dissuades pregnant women from getting medical help when they need it (especially as GPs are so overstretched).

Places like b&m and home bargains defo don’t ask questions
