@Louisa we tried to add our second to the first claim, that was nearly 2 week ago now, I get paid weekly for the child benefit, every Monday, yet it’s still just the amount for my first. Maybe it depends on your local authority? Or whoever it is who handles it
I applied for my 3rd child the same day as registering them (he was 1 week and 4 days) I recieved my payment for him the following week (2 days after my actual child benefit payment went in).
@Sarah 🇬🇧 after that first intial payment was he then added onto the same payment date as your other kids? I’m just wondering if I’ll have two separate pay days or not. I’d rather have one x
Can I ask how you add on a second child? My little one is 3 weeks so have been meaning to do! Xx
You can do it on the HMRC app. Think if you have that then it’s the quickest way. Or just google claim child benefit and follow the link
@Lori I logged into gov gateway account and added them on.
Yes, Al other payments will now be made within the one single payment I get. I don't think they had processed the paperwork in time for my normal payment date in July so they made a 2nd payment to me for child3. But going forward I will just get the 1 monthly payment. X
I applied on the Monday and had it by the Thursday (just 3 days later). It’s defo quicker if you have another child as just adding them on to the claim. I applied when my baby wasn’t even a week old and got paid 2 weeks so I think it is backdated x
