Mat leave

I'm not going on mat leave until a week before my due date. Is anyone else doing the same. I'm probably really stupid for doing that. 😬

That's basically what I have done! It's my first day of mat leave today and I'm due on the 13th August 😊 I worked from home though so it was manageable. I also enjoyed the distraction! Now I just have to wait haha 😂

I keep getting told I look tired. I look in the mirror and I'm like ohhh I should have put makeup on. My family keep telling me to leave for mat leave early. But I want more time on the other side with my baby

I did this too! Finished at 38+5 and baby came 39+1. This is my second and only taking 9 months so wanted to make sure the time off was going to be with baby

Same here! Everyone keeps asking me if I'm on maternity leave yet I'm like nope 🙃 having c section between 19-24th and last day of work is 16th. Can't afford longer than 4 months leave and want as much of that with baby as possible

I took mine a month before due date, it's been nice to relax and have time to prepare but I am also bored now and kind of wish I would have started it a bit later. I was worried baby was going to come early but she's actually late lol so it has its pros and cons either way!

Im going on maternity leave on my due date! I want the time on the other side x

My due date is 25/08 and my last day is 23/08 😬 I'm starting to regret my choice but I don't have a lot of paid mat leave so I want to get the most out of it. Fortunately I can work from home for the next 3 weeks and I'm only handing over now to my cover so it's not like I'm full 8 hours on my feet or sitting upright. Hope you'll have the energy to power on, if not and you've got some holidays left maybe it's worth taking a couple days off 🙂

I've also started on my due date and used 2 weeks of holiday before. I'm only part time with a toddler so just 3 days left now but honestly I've been really struggling and don't think I can do it.

I'm self employed so finishing 3 days before my c section is booked 😭 gutted but I can't afford to take less time off. Only having 12 weeks off too (well that's the plan) so a bit rubbish really 🤣 I'm a hairdresser and I'm SO done x

Me! I finish on Friday cannot wait. It’s been hard going but I keep telling myself it will be worth it next year. My due date is two weeks today.

I officially started mat leave yesterday and I'm due next Sunday. But I've been on holiday since 8th July, using up the leave I had. I'm glad I've had the time to rest as I'm on my feet all day at work and was beginning to struggle

Can totally understand why you’d ask this cos I have been asking myself the same. My mat leave starts the day before my due date so similar to a few others on this thread (which is totally reassuring)! I can also wfh so it’s more manageable for me to do this. People keep saying to me I should just finish but need the time for when baby is here!! Just gotta do what’s right for you x

Meeee! Feel like everyone has finished early and I’m still working away! Finishing 1 week before due date. Wanted to save as much of my mat leave for time with baby instead!

I have started maternity leave with two children on the week of their due date and haven’t regretted it. Getting to spend more time with them is far better than going off work early and being bored out of your mind.

I wish I’d have put mine off… I had two weeks annual leave booked from 38 weeks and my MAT leave started on due date. I’m now 41+2 with no signs of baby, waiting to be induced and feel like over wasted almost 4 weeks 🫠

I was always being asked too but I got given my section date as 19th July so didn’t finish work until the 14th and I’m so glad as I have the whole year with him now. With my first I had 6 weeks off before he came and although it was nice, this feels better this time. Go with whatever you feel like ☺️
