Excessive hand chewing?

My daughter will be 2 months on the 2nd and she’s CONSTANTLY chewing on her hands. Even if she isn’t hungry or upset lol Wondering if this is a sign of something I should be looking out for? No tooth buds that I can feel yet

My baby is 9 weeks and does the same thing not sure why but I think it's okay he also drools a lot

My son has been doing it for about two weeks now. Maybe they are doing it to self soothe.

My baby does the same thing

Mine does the same and drools. I think it’s a milestone and then just being aware that they have fingers lol idk

I read that it can be a pre-teething action when things are shifting well below the gums, but I am not sure the credibility of the source that suggested this. I tend to agree with @Camille that it could be more of a self soothing behavior though.

Normal at that age they are exploring and learning what hands are haha

I believe it's a self-soothing technique. Nothing to be alarmed about :)

I just read that after the newborn stage if they are still doing this, they are discovering their hands. Should be normal 🙂

Just went to the doctor earlier abt this with my two months old she said teething is rare at this age n she’s mostly just exploring her hands n things around her. She puts any n everything in her mouth 😭😭

Literally just came from the pediatrician. My daughter was doing this during her appointment and I was told she’s began teething. She’s only 8 weeks old but it has become more often. No signs of teeth yet, but using one of those finger brush thing to massage the gums would be beneficial

My baby does too she’s 7 weeks I think they are starting to discover their hands more

It's developmental and a lot of babies find it soothing! You may also notice the drooling exponentially increase as well, but likely still won't see any true teething until closer to 6 months old. Helping them grasp a toy to mouth can be helpful. Babies have to fully map their mouth and prepare their gag to eat solids. If you think about it their mouth is the only part of them they can really control (cuz they spend all day practicing with it eating) so it's how they explore their world. They can't control their fingers for touch exploration but their tongue...#nailed it 😉

My son is 2 months on the 11th he hates pacis but LOVES his hands no matter what he gotta have his hands . Even if I swaddle him he finds a way lol

Curious what do they do for babies who get Covid?

@Alyssa has your baby has Covid before? How old are they?
