I have it and had a final growth scan today at 39 weeks (they wanted to do an extra one to check the trajectory as one scan showed he was bigger than expected). They will intervene at 40+7 if he’s not put in an appearance by then. I am diet controlled and they don’t have any concerns that the GD has affected his growth. NICE guidelines say wait until 40+6 if well controlled
@Ally is your baby’s tummy measuring big? Or all normal? The measurement for mine last time was very big, so wondering if that means it’s affected his growth a bit? I would love to not have an induction (bad experience last time) but will if it’s safest for him. Such a hard one to judge. Think I need another scan ideally!
His tummy is measuring normal in my case. I have booked in for an elective c section at 40+7 if he’s not arrived on his own by then. Everything you’re doing to control it now will make all the difference. All you can do is ask what the alternatives are - if you’re not offered something that you feel comfortable with. Extra monitoring should be something they’ll able to consider. I’m also not keen about the idea of induction
I have GD and have had growth scans, as long as rate growth is as expected (regardless of how big/small they are) they are pretty happy. My baby is measuring large but no concerns with rate of growth so they have suggested I go for an induction at 39 weeks to avoid her getting too big if left to full term.
Think it’s different in different trusts but they usually step in around 39 weeks (I was also diagnosed late just last week and had it with my first too) x
